We are searching for:
• A HERO for every rescued pet in PAWS' care.
• A PROTECTOR for each community pet whose family needs support to keep them where they are loved.
As PAWS strives to make Philadelphia a city where every savable pet finds a loving home and every pet owner has the support they need to keep their family whole, we are increasing our efforts to rescue and care for sick and injured homeless animals, and to expand our safety net to prevent cherished family pets from entering shelters.
To do this vital work, we need you! Join us to ensure that vulnerable animals in our community receive the same protection and love that our own pets enjoy.

When Khalil lost his housing and began living in a shelter, he reached out to PAWS with one heartbreaking concern: keeping his beloved cat, Slippers, safe until they could be together again. Through PAWS’ Safety Net Foster Program, Slippers stayed in dedicated foster homes for four months while Khalil worked toward stable housing.
During her time with PAWS, Slippers received updated vaccines, flea treatment, and supportive care to help ease the stress of transition. When Khalil finally moved into his new home, he was reunited with his beloved companion, and could celebrate being together again, ready to make a fresh start.

When Nicole brought her two dogs to PAWS for their spay appointments, she hoped to protect their long-term health while helping reduce pet overpopulation in Philadelphia. But during Snoopi’s exam, our medical team discovered a heart murmur that made surgery unsafe to perform that day. They reached out to Nicole to explain the situation and help guide her through next steps.
After additional testing and careful evaluation, Snoopi was safely able to undergo surgery, and both dogs received the veterinary care they needed. Nicole described the PAWS team as “so kind and thoughtful and non-judgmental,” and shared that she “would not want to bring them anywhere else.”
